In the end I went with 7710 cranks/bb and 7600 hubs. Every time I ride now I'm blown away by the performance. The cranks are so stiff it feels like pushing against a concrete slab rather than pedalling a bike. And the smoothness of the group is unbelievable, I'm at a loss for words trying to describe it.

When not using the custom carbon cranks or SRM, GB use 75s

Just to note, Campagnolo road cranks have the right chain line to use as track bike cranks using the outer ring. I've use Record alloy cranks on my track bike with no issues (using Miche rings).
