Upgrading from 5700 to 6800 is not a waste of money. Lighter and an additional gear.

Thanks for the comments! My plan was to stick with all black components, hence the 5800. Not set in stone though.
Also....ordered the Rotor cranks today. Competitive Cyclist have them on clearance for $299!

Dammit.....I am choosing to not see that.
EDIT: Called Competitive Cyclist and they credited me the difference! Great service!

It is described as a model year 2014 in the Cervelo literature. There is a new R3 that just came out that is "The New R3" which I think is actually the 2015 model...it has internal routing, etc.
EDIT: You may be correct, but I am not 100% positive....going to research

You should just keep the CAAD10 as your second bike. Every WW needs at least n+1 bikes. Even if you have a kid, many of us have done multiple bikes. That way you have a bike for the trainer, bad weather outdoor rides, if you race, if you are driving a long distance with bike in roof and don't want to deal with debris hitting your carbon frame on the interstate...etc.
I know you got a good deal on the CAAD10 on discount and can probably recoup some of your money back, but why not just keep it? Rather keep the R3 stock and keep the CAAD then to sell the CAAD and only slightly upgrade the R3.

6800 is a very dark gray, bordering on black.

I never "slightly" upgrade anything.....I always start with good intentions and then overdo it!
The CAAD is gone already.....on the way to beautiful South Carolina to her new keeper.

Going from 5700 to 5800 sure feels like a slight upgrade to me.
