I was super skeptical of Di2 XTR (pointless, expensive, etc) but now can't bloomin' wait for the thing to arrive and am prepared to be tempted!

Thanks for the link. Sweeet!!

I love the gear indicator display, even though completely unnecessary really.

Love the rear mech! Front mech looks a little chunky and a bit of a mud trap but not too bad on the bike. Shifters are pretty cool too. It would be nice if the "display" and mode changing/ battery display etc could be integrated in to a Garmin or similar. Don't fancy 2 big screens on the bars!

Some quick thoughts

The battery is awful. Sure hope it works with the Dura Ace internal battery.

Integration with the Fox lockouts is promising.

Would be interested in knowing system weight comparison to XX1.

XTR 1x11 electronic sounds great, but they need to sort the issue with the freehub body.

I run XTR980 1x10 on my rigid MTB with an 11/36 - the small cogs gouge the heck out of the splined freehub body. Sram's XD driver design is far superior in that respect.

"XTR Di2 M9050 uses the same batteries as its road equivalent. The external SM-BTR1 battery and the internal SM-BTR2 battery."

cool that it got sequential shifting. that you just have one shifter. on the other way, i wonder if you need two chainrings when you have 11 speed and can use 1x11 and a 40T on the cassette

I have XTR hubs and there is not a mark on them with any cassete I have tried. I have tried very light weight A2Z hubs with an alloy freehub body and the cassette was very hard to remove. It is the fault of the freehub body you have not the the groupset/cassette.

I am filled full of want but I am not really quick enough to justify this kind of kit, will it stop me though heck no.

Well Shimano hubs have a steel freehub body to prevent gouging as you mentioned, but it's heavier. That's why the XD driver is nice, it ends up being lighter overall. Of course the problem with XD drivers is that it'll be hard to create a truly inexpensive stamped steel cassette that is compatible.
