the etube update, which takes about 3 months to download, seems to have the ability to do something with the SM EWW01 wireless unit. Does anybody know what this is?

I don't want that hanging off my bike.

I presume it can be placed anywhere on the e tube bus, so therefore it can be hidden. Only question is whether the transmit signal is strong enough.

But if the wireless functions stop here, with the basic gear selection and battery level functions visible on the SCIO, the development is far less impressive.

MORE wires ... more complications. True wireless electronic shifting is at least 5-7 years away according to Shimano reps.

I refuse to get on board until that happens.

In the meantime? My fingers still function.

Has anyone tried one of these yet?

Could it be placed just inside the downtube up by the headtube? I know they warn about interference issues - but it would be so close to the computer I would guess it shoudn't be an issue?

Or underneath the Front Junction Box?

No one has tried yet because to test the signal you need something that recieves the signal like the Garmin 1000 which hasnt shipped yet.

I have it in PRO scio computer and works just fine. Haven't tried to put it elsewhere than near the rear derailleur.

I tried Google translate on this, and here's what it says:

"Line is original is not advised to buy another, the original did not acquire 40cm attached my alternative temporary fixed, and so on until the entire line length of road, the car is used when the test car, there is said to be the original installed in the front of the fork beta so can not see. Thank you for advice."

So........perhaps someone could help me with the language...........

That is what he said :

E-Tube wire is not included.
After testing, that thing works with any spare E-Tube port such as shifter.
Will try to hide it inside of frame or dropbar.
