@shoodawhoop Any chance you can link to the thread, and article if there is one?

@rijndael Sorry for that, when I see ANT I usually automatically assume ANT+. Bad habit here. haha

Great news for "Game of Thrones" fans!
I can imagine watching it while spinning along between doing my intervals.

Just hope the mount .. Will work for my bike.. That's a huge cpu

The more off center the better.. Need to be low in portrait mode... Or all the bar flys and the like are gonna have issues

My Edge500's screen is more than enough for me. I don't really see a reason to get something bigger, heavier and more expensive. (if you don't need maps, but I have my phone for it, if really needed)

But that's the thing: It's all about the map and if you want that, bigger is indeed better. 8)

If I buy a Garmin Edge 1000, then it is sure that I make a custom holder for my stems.

i overlaid the Garmin 810 over the Garmin 1000 in one of DCRainmakers photo...and the mount looks to be slightly off centered unlike the Garmin 800/810 where it is centrally located (although difficult to tell from the pic). it would be nice to still use your Garmin 800 mount with the 1000. i suppose you will be making some alterations to the length of your mounts in this case. and seeing that it is thinner as well...possibly a change in mount height as well?

I am 100% sure that I can not use my 800/810 mount for Garmin Edge 1000 ......

It looks bigger, but how much bigger is the actual screen?

Edge 810: 2.7 inch screen
Edge 1000: 3 inch screen

0.3 inches difference. But maybe the pixel density is much improved?

Edge 810: 160x240 = 107 pixels per inch
Edge 1000: 240x240 = 113 pixels per inch

Looks like a bold and revolutionary upgrade in bezel size, while the screen size/resolution stays pretty much the same.

Yeah, that's not much of an increase in screen real-estate for such a large increase in overall size

I think this is the fastest upgrade every for Garmin? I think they are really worried that we are going to all switch to a phone with BT sensors. I also think that Garmin is missing the boat with not really making a cycling racing Garmin. Bigger screen, thiner, no touch screen, and epaper screen, 24 hour battery life....

I use a 910 and it rocks, except trying to read the screen in the sun. I they have to realize that most of the phone user are not looking at their phone as they ride ( and will have to use a wahoo RFLKT)

They need to build the best reading screen in the sun/rain and allow user to adjust the data fields size. Everything else has/is becoming a commodity. Just like PCs the hardware is the/makes the difference

It should stop somewhere. Next one is what, ipad?

For 1000, they say it is for both training and navigation.
Who the hell needs navigation while training :D

Yes, that is very disappointing and this is at basically at the same price as what you pay for Samsung and Apple top cell phones.

The garmin USA website lists it as 240 x400 pixels, making it 155 pixels per inch - a 50% increase

240 x 240 would be a square screen.....
