The Oh shit, Kristoff's coming! realisation came just a bit too early.
Fantastic race to watch, maybe the best rvv I've seen.

Yeah he sat up and waited after chasing solo a bit. Crazy big gear Kristoff was pushing. Rare to see such low RPM these days.

OPQS must be choked with the way that played out.... thing were looking great with numbers and SVDB up the road starting the last climb.

OPQS didn't take the bull by the horns after they had forced a selection and were left with only big names and the most riders. They raced far too cautiously in the end....not that it would've mattered. None of the were the measure of Cancellara and Vanmarcke [/armchairDS]

I guess if there is a champion on the other team its difficult even when the numbers are on your side. I saw as much of the race as I could and it was super action packed great way to spend the morning. Crazy to see Kristoff almost making it back up.

That was fcking beautiful! I've been watching pro cycling since 1993 or so and this was probably the best race I've seen to date. Hope to get an HD Sporza download completed for tomorrow's trip to old country to watch it in the plane.

Why would you say that?

I never took drugs to improve my performance at any time. I will be willing to stick my finger into a polygraph test if anyone with big media pull wants to take issue. If you buy a signed poster now it will not be tarnished later. --Graeme Obree

Wondering why does it come down to this? :noidea:

The team bus pulled away towards the Cannondale's classics base at the Kennedy Hotel in Kortrijk shortly afterwards and some time later, a press release was issued on Sagan's behalf, containing his brief thoughts on the day's action.

"It's never easy to comment on a disappointing result and there aren't many words to say right now," Sagan said. "I did not perform as I wanted in a key moment of the race. When Cancellara and Vanmarcke attacked on the Oude Kwaremont I wasn't able to push hard enough to follow them. I've lost the right moment, simply no other reasons.

"Maybe it was just an off day – If I had ridden yesterday, for sure I was able to win."

What Phinney had to say about Sagan:

"I just hope that he gets tired of winning," he laughed, when asked if he was looking forward to locking horns with Sagan over the cobbles for the next decade or so. "I try not to compare myself to Peter Sagan because that is a very unrealistic comparison – he is one of a kind."

Rather than measure himself against Sagan, Phinney prefers to gauge his progress against that of Fabian Cancellara, a rider whose first major victories, like Phinney's, came in time trials, and who took time to become a consistent factor in the classics.

"I’m aware that, physically, I’m more adept at a race like Paris-Roubaix right now, but I think the Tour of Flanders that can become more my speciality as I get older, leaner and have more race kilometres in my legs," he said. "As well as that, positioning is even more important in Flanders than Roubaix, because three-quarters of the peloton knows where they are all the time whereas in Roubaix maybe the peloton hasn’t memorised the course as much."

I have to stop making so detailed scenarios of what is going to happen.
What a race. Seing the last 25 kms today, gives me goosebumps even though I've seen the last km already. Amazing performance by all 3 riders on the podium. I would be equally amazed no matter who won. OPQS must be pretty disappointed. One man with a free ticket in the final break, and he didn't even make the podium.

I was so sure Van Avermaet would be reeled in before, but no. Then I was sure they will catch him on the Paterberg. But no. Him ride was amazing yesterday. I feel for him. Supposedly have a fast finish, but it's the second time this year he lost a small group sprint.

It was a great race to watch, and there were a few seconds when I was not too sure about Cancellara winning. But he just measured his chase efforts, he had such a cool head.
