"PRO" Cycling Discussion

I passed Cipo in the opposite direction on one of my rides in Lucca two years ago. I was surprised to get a wave and a "Ciao!". I would definitely have tagged along if I was going in the same direction and it was allright with him.

Those mattresses will kill you. Every single one I have ever heard about on the road has hit a cyclist in a bike race. Worse than distracted drivers...

Antoine VAYER @festinaboy
Froome's power output ~6.70 W/kg at Oman Tour, 9 mn for "GREEN mountain's" It's a *f##k* RED ridiculous performance. Bullshit, joke.
Psuedoscientist Vayer calls him out...

On Vayer: quoting power numbers alone is meaningless unless you quantitatively consider duration. For that you need a power-duration model. Veloclinic, who has done similar analysis, has done extensive work in developing a good power-duration model from an extended dataset he's accumulated. The CP model is a simplistic example. But generally for 20 minutes one can sustain 5-7% more than for an hour, so 6.7 W/kg for 19 minutes would be more like 6.2-6.3 W/kg for an hour. That's a lot for sure, but Froome is clearly exceptionally light. And there was supposedly a tailwind, which would reduce that further.
