Hello all,
I've been using my Shimano 105 pedals for about 4000 km and 5 months. The left pedal (the one that I generally unclip) wear plate was somehow bent upward, as seen in the photo. I removed the wear plate to inspect, and saw that the rings that the screws go through were bent. I bent those rings back in position, and mounted the wear plate again. No problem until here.
Today at the starting point of a group ride, I noticed that the left screw was missing. I tightened the right screw a little further and we started the group ride. When the ride ended, I noticed that the wear plate is gone. The right screw is still in place.
What should I do? Will Shimano honor a warranty or anything if I contact them? Or will they say "go f* yourself"?
I couldn't find anywhere to buy the replacement wear plate, btw.
Any suggestions welcome.
Oh, photos:ImageImageImage

What is this "Shimano 105" of which you speak?? :D

Sorry, couldn't help myself on some snob humour, hehe. In all seriuosness though, I'm fairly convinced that Shimano would honour such a warranty call. Talk to your lbs, Shimano would probably not help you directly.

We used to dream of 105 back in the day...
Whatevs, I bought the pedals from overseas. Should I contact them?

I would try a warranty claim first but not worry too much - those are a wear item and can be replaced for about $8 a pair - with screws. I can't tell from the picture (macro mode!) but if the screw snapped but is still there you might have to drill it or get a screw extractor. Not too hard though.
I'm left handed, if that matters.

Kdawg, can you send a link where I can buy it?
The screw is okay, I took it out.

Here you go - http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/mobile/shima ... prod30389/

Doesn't say anything about overseas shipping but if you have any trouble let me know and I could send them on to you.

That part would be £2.50 shipping cost to the U.S. as I discovered by putting it in my basket (then removing it).

£6.66 total is kinda scary tho.
Contacted JeJames cycles, let's see how it turns out.

They want the pedals back for inspection.

Hmm, that's unlucky. I've got about 8 pairs of alu-coloured 105s, and haven't had this happen.

I think it's a one-off really, I haven't heard of anything like this anywhere.
