I've read quite a bit about tubeless setup on cx and everyone seems to be pretty mixed.
I gave it a go some month ago, and I was surprised how good it is.

I'm using a 2014 CruX with SL23 Pacenti rims, and various tires (right now jet2), stan tape, stan valves, stan sealant.

The tires seat well and I've yet to burp. I run around 25 to 30psi (76kg). I tried 20psi for a while but the ride quality didn't please me.. however that didn't burp either. Outside of that, I went on muddy XC trips several times, no burps, nothing. I probably have 700 miles combined on them now.

My only issue is that there currently isn't any nice and cheap (open mold etc) carbon rim that's wide, tubeless, etc.

I wondered if there were more positive experiences.

We've been running tubeless on the wifes bike for a good while now (two seasons?)
Had it down under 20psi for one race. No issues at all.......

They've always worked well for me (Ultegra/Hutchinson) and have never burped.

I've only had one puncture in three seasons (too big to seal).

The problem I have is finding tubeless tyres in the UK. A couple of places have started selling Vittorias and these seem decent so far but I'd like more choice.

Don't bother using tubeless then.
We are using some continentals on one set of wheels, vittorias on another and maxxis on a third.

All running tubeless, none of them are tubeless tyres. None have burped, or rolled.

I do have Stans Alpha 340 wheels on my cross bike. I've had Michelin Mud 2 tires , not a tubeless tire but am running tubeless, on them for over 5 months. Zero issues. When I took the front one off last week and shook it I could still hear the Stans inside the tire. I've done several gravel road races and the preformed very well including one that had a health dose of single track thrown in it.

What about the Light-Bicycle tubeless-ready U45 rim? Apparently there is also a 38mm (and 50mm) available. They are quite nice rims.

I may be wrong, but someone said that there are more u-shaped rims if you contact them and ask. I thought 38mm was one of the unadvertised offerings.

Try the live chat or an email, they have quite a bit of stuff they don't list on their website

The 38mm is not available yet, but should be in March. There is the 45 and an unadvertised 50mm option for tubeless. I decided not to wait and they are building my 45s now.
