The CC40 are really tough. I would suggest you give them a try. Our product guys spent a lot of time to build them as tough and as light as possible, kind of mimicking the original Ksyrium level of durability.
The CC40 are slightly more aerodynamic than the SLs. It's small, like 2-5 watts. Better aerodynamics with the tires that come with them, they're on the narrow side of 23mm which helps. However they ride great if you put our 25mm tires on.

Anyone have these and put them on a scale to get real weights?

Competitive Cyclist usually weighs things themselves (not manufacturer's claimed weight). Here's what they have:

Front Weight:670 g
Rear Weight:875 g
Complete Set Weight:[without tires] 1545 g, [with tires] 2085 g

$2,750.00

Thanks. Didn't know that CC displayed their own weights.

They do on a lot of products.

The review linked above said the wheels came in a 1540g too.

Honestly, at that weight (and cost), I'd look elsewhere. These wheels offer none of the "benefits" of carbon clinchers, and many of the drawbacks. No matter what, the brake surface is still carbon, which isn't as effective as aluminum, and you have an internal aluminum mounting bed, which adds unnecessary weight. Additionally, the narrow rim width is less stable compared to Zipp, Enve, Bontrager, etc.

They weigh more, cost more and have similar braking? I'll pass, thank you very much.

Is it safe to use Corima brakes pads on C40?

No. I've been in touch with Mavic and they only reccomend using their Yellow Carbon pads. Using any other pad will void the warranty.

I wanted to use those pads because they're so light.

Got my new CC40s on Friday, they look and feel great. First ride today (jut a quick spin) and they felt great. Could have gone with a lot of alternatives, but as an all-round, all-year wheel, they seem a great solution.

So, now that I have a bunch of rides on the CC40s I can easily say that these are great wheels. Yes, they're not the lightest, but they're stiff as hell and I weight 207lbs and the roads around here aren't the best. They feel solid, even when I get out of the saddle and mash. Never do I feel that they're going to give out on me.

They also roll like crazy. When riding with my buddy I easily pick up speed faster than him on a decent, and he's a much better rider than me. He's even commented on how fast I accelerate.

Braking in dry conditions is the best I've ever experienced, even compared to aluminum clinchers. They stop on a dime, and it's smooth and quiet. The braking performance is similar to how a car with performance brakes compares to a car with standard brakes. The stopping distance seems tiny to me, even when I'm traveling at high speeds. I never feel like I have to brake early to stop in time.

Overall, amazing set of wheels.

Has anyone ridden both the Cosmic SR (non-Exalith alloy braking surface, carbon rim to rim spokes) and the Cosmic 40C so as to be able to offer an opinion on the comparative ride difference between them please ?

Thanks in anticipation.
