Frame size, new bike fitting, questions

1)Mine is 752mm and it doesn't look funny
2)I have 5mm of spacers on top of the Acros headset. No funny looking
3)Can take measurement some other day
4)Plenty of clearance with HED Stinger 6 w/27mm Vittoria Pavé EVO CG
5)Don't know, have mechanical (Chorus), and while a bit cumbersome to thread the gear cables through the BB, in general no big deal (I ended up glueing a piece of sewing thread to the end of the cable and used the vacuum cleaner to suck it out)

Hey folks,

I am currently riding a Stevens Ventoux (frame size 60) which fits me perfect and think about getting a second ride.
At the moment I tend to buying a Specialized Allez E5 or a Cannondale Caad10 frame but I am not sure which size I should get.

Can anybody please help me with the sizing!?

I guess the Caad 10 would fit me in a size 60?
No clue about the Allez.

I am 187cm tall with a 91cm leg length

The Ventoux has a short reach, tall stack in general compared to the caad. You would have to take your pick between a smaller caad with short reach (and headset spacers) like the Ventoux, or a tall caad with a long reach and short stem.

Here are the important ingredients -
Ventoux in size 60cm | Stack=609mm, Reach=405, Seat tube angle=73.5

Now compare those to the different sizes on the Cdale and Spec geo charts and take your pick. If the Ventoux fits perfectly the caad is not the ideal frame for you imo.

I would go with a 58 Allez or a 60 CAAD. Although I would agree with tinozee that the CAAD does not appear to be a great fit for you if you like the Ventoux. The 58 Allez looks good though.

Yes, they are similar. There are a few small differences like fork rake, bb drop, chainstay length. They all work together to impact how a bike handles and rides. You will need to test ride an Allez to get an idea of how it impacts you.

Are you running any spacers under your stem on the Stevens? If so, you can test removing a spacer or two on your current frame, or the Allez to experiment with a more aggressive position.

Is the Stevens your first bike? If so, I would ride more than just the Allez and CAAD to get an idea of how different bikes handle and feel.

The Stevens is my First bike and I did remove all spacers.
I will test ride a 58 canyon ultimate al and I could test ride the caad. I do not know if the allez is already available for test rides at any lbs here

I'm in dilemma. Used to ride specialized allez 56cm (2013) and now thinking to move over to S-works Tarmac SL4 (2013) with a size smaller, 54cm. will it be a huge different ?

In my humble opinion, at 187 cm tall / 86 cm inseam, you have no business on a 54 cm frame (unless you want a huge saddle to handlebar drop).

By the way, those suggested saddle heights look a bit off. I have a 85 cm inseam and ride between 76.5 - 77 cm with about 10 cm setback.

Usually people who are 187cm ride a 58cm although some ride a 56cm with a 140mm stem. Depends if you want a more compact frame. Specialized jumps up a lot in head tube length from the 56 to the 58.

I was using 110mm stem on 56cm 2013 allez. I find the frame a little too big. that's why wanted to get a smaller frame.

if i use 54cm frame, and 130 or 140mm stem, can it compensate back the short top tube ?
of course i might need a spacer there right ?

I am also 187cm but with long legs and short upper body and selling my 56 SL4 and just got a Roubaix. Too short HT for me. So my question to you how do you find it too big?

Just because professionals run 140mm stems doesn't mean most people should strive for that. It is not uncommon for regular folks to ride bikes fitted with 100cm or even shorter stems.

If your current setup is too long perhaps a shorter stem or shorter reach bar would be a better solution. Sizing down will create greater drop or a larger stack of spacers. I'm 181cm, I ride a 76cm saddle height on an 56 SL4 Tarmac with a 110mm stem and the bike fits extremely well. I will say I'm no expert in fitting, however 187cm is not a great fit on a 54.
