Continental Race King 2.2 ProTection.

Continental tires with the Black Chili compound last long (certainly a lot longer than Schwalbe Evolution tires).

First, they're called Maxxis Ikon 2.2 EXO. Second, those are the tires he has been using. He asked people to suggest alternative options.

In rear I have a Specialized Ground Control and really like it , the sidewall is thick and good grip on mud and wet roots.

Any recommandation for a mud/wet front tire ?

Have used Beavers only at 2 races but it seems like a perfect tire for wet. At last race I've made a snakebit which was loosing air very slowly and haven't noticed it for 20km.
Has anyone tried running normal Beavers tubeless? I've done this with my AKA's which are my all-terin tire and they hold up great.

I ran normal beaver, tubeless, no problems.

The best tire I've tried in super muddy conditions. In fact, during a race, some spectators told me I was the only dude climbing a long muddy hill on my bike. Mountain goat tires.

Thanks for the info.

Yeah, Beavers are great in mud. I couldn't believe the first time I tried them in a race, in muddy descend with aprox. 10cm of mud, was going like it was dry.

Took the punt and went with Rocket Ron as a front. It works very well as a most conditions front in Australian east coast sandy soils. Obviously thick/slick mud will foil it, but up to that point I'm happy with it.

The improvement in grip has helped my confidence no end. Despite the slight gain in rolling resistance I am faster as I'm more confident to stay off the brakes when cornering, Dunno why I persisted so long with the Racing Ralph. :?

always use schwalbe, and get the performance version, instead of the evolution version, to save some money and more flat protection.
Happy Trails !!!

I agree. In my opinion, Schwalbe Performance line is almost the same as Evolution Snake Skin in terms of flat protection. They are however way cheaper. Performance line is also really easy to set up tubeless.

Maxxis Aspen 2.1 x 29. Great all around and light weight around 515g if you look hard enough
I have used these on sugar sand, mud/grass and of course they roll great on hardpack
Mount well as tubeless too

only caveat- sidewalls are not super tough so watch out for sharp rocks

I use one of those on the rear, cheap, light and durable for the weight range.

Won't change in a while.
