Cipollini RB1K: a short lived affair....ISP CRACKED :( pp 3
Moderators: MrCurrieinahurry, maxim809, Moderator Team
Very excited about this.... unwrapping my new Cipollini RB1K in Italian colours....thick pearlescent white paint...looks insane in the flesh...but heavy!
The Cipo build will be Campy SRM Cranks, SR mechanical, Arione 00....only a couple of Schmolke/THM bits, Ti cables... otherwise fairly standard stuff
This was a deal being an ex show frame so I had to go broke...I will probably weigh a lot less in a month (to pay back financially poor Mario) and will sell my BMC SLR01 to lessen the blow...
Anyways, frame size is XS, TT is 52.5, HT 9.7 cm ...[I am 176.5cm (5ft 9.5in...0.5=every little counts ) ; racing weight ~61.8-63.3 kg ~136-139 lbs]. Now the pics/weights:
RB1K on a high-tech kitchen scale....(now broken ) 1,416g....
good job the mast top is light....(not!)
...but the fork is *comparatively* svelte given 17+ cm of steerer tube....380g
who needs a HT? 9.7cm in XS (and 10cm in S)...hence also most pros use spacers...a bit over the top if you ask me...but anyway...
BB30 for my Campy SRM PM (no like BB386)
with these Ti cables it will be lighter than an Addict....
Freebee...!!!
Campy mechanical all the way...
Big ass
Hope pics aren't too many...can't wait to ride the beast....!

Nice! Looking forward to this.
What housing are you using with the KCNC Ti Cables?

Ahhh so it happened! Can't wait to see this thing on the road, Vlad! Take your time with it and make it perfect. Are you running your Mavic wheels with it? I don't know if you have seen this but worth a look - http://cyclingtips.com.au/2012/09/bikes ... ni-rb1000/
Lovely bike. I think the head tube length on the cipollinis has always been a bit of a red herring, given the shape of the frame. I'd be interest to know the stack and reach of the frame for the size.

Beautiful frame!
So, so heavy for carbon.
Thank you for posting scale pictures nonetheless. I hope this build finds many happy miles underneath you.

That is a really nice looking frame! Guess it probably won't weight much more than my CAAD....but mine is a 56 ;P

Cheers ....maybe i should have called it the Cipo fatso project...still i am pretty sure it will come under 6.8kg with racing wheels
As for the housing, I am going for i-links/mini links as good compromise between weight and looks....heavier white nokons would look better but I don't care

Where can you get only the housing without cables?

@drainyoo: yes, I doubt nokon/alligator cables differ much in weight, but I am using the ti cables pictured above for the shifters
In any case, with conventional cables I am guessing the bulk of the weight difference comes from the housing...
