I am seriously thinking of getting some new Reynold's Assault SLG clinchers this year. Factory build wheels are available now, priced between $1600-1800 depending on the vendor.
I don't know much about Reynold's hubs, however. I've debated getting a custom build with Chris King, Alchemy, or Tune. Cost would be ~$2000.
Are the factory hubs pretty good? I've haven't found many opinions either way?

I used to have the old DV3K's, which use similar hubs (not direct-pull, but same internals). I am a heavier rider, and I can tell you that I NEVER had problems with the hub. I put over 10k miles (16k kilometers) on those wheels, and they never once needed to be rebuilt (and I'm a heavier rider). They aren't a light-weight offering, but they are solid!
