I have managed to get one of the original 1992-3 Cannondale M700 (I think that this was the first of the Cannondales) I really want to restore it and get it back on the road.
I have managed to gather up most of the kit but I cannot get a headset or rigid forks (at a reasonable price) I think its a 1 1/2" headtube
Any thoughts on
1. Sourcing headset and fork
2. Builds
Thanks

92-93 were not really the first Cannondales. On this site you can check your framenumber and find the original specs in the catalogs.
Good luck!

M frames of that era came with 2 different headtubes.
Lower end had 1in (or 1.125, i cant remember) , and the more expensive ones had 1.25. So you'd need an evo threaded headset.
They do come up on ebay, but tend to be bloody expensive!
look on retrobike and see if anyone has a pepperoni fork for sale.
2 things to be aware of these frames are:
top tube bowing due to poor heat treating
and
if it came with suntour originally, a lot of chainstays wore away due to a lack of clearance and a flexy hub.
Its probably pushing its limit of age for an alu frame so be careful
