Yup, was installing a set on a bike and the front brake arm was loose, fluid was leaking everywhere. What a nightmare. Called SRAM and it was warrantied no questions asked.

I was already convinced this tech is not ready, and won't be ready unless we see pro riders, and I mean all pro riders on this stuff, otherwise you're the testing ground.

Merged. There was already a thread on this...

Bugger - that means I am going to have to strip down my bike after 1 ride! You've got to laugh!!

So question now is what to use instead on a disc only frame...

Throw on a cheap pair of cable brake levers and brakes then wait for srams problem to be solved.

That was my thinking. The only problem of "throwing" something on as a weightweenie is that it ends up being expensive!!

Would have gone for the TRP spyre but they were recalled last week too!!!!

I am certainly considering making a claim for compensation from sram or the country distributor. My bike build was specifically for hydraulic. Based on my prior experience with cable discs, I would have otherwise stuck with cantis.

this is actually a different, more comprehensive recall, not just the hydro levers as the first post suggested:

yes, Sram's got plenty of cash, but 19,000 sets? This is a bitter pill to take, no doubt.

This thread was separate last night but got merged by the mods into this one.

As you note, this is a total recall.

Defective brakes mean the possibility of serious injury or even death, and hugely expensive lawsuits.

So perhaps I'll wait for Campagnolo to produce an effective hydraulic disc brake...........

@Valbrona right on! What I don't I understand why isn't this tech not coming via a trickle down from pro/elites racing then to consumers. Wasn't that the route with E-shifting and all carbon frames. Greed is the motivation here, they want to quickly sell new products and new bikes because the market is slowing down.

My understanding from some people that Campag will not publicly release anything till they get UCI approval and get few teams to ride those things. Which I think will still be dangerous, imagine a pile-up. Those disc rotors will be slice flesh on impact. Hopefully I'm wrong.
