Raced up a big mountain this week. Strange race - 40km flat to start with no one doing anything then a 20km climb @ 6% which might as well have been a mountain TT.

The valley at the bottom

Road stayed at 6% the whole way - no ramps so nowhere to really push on.

This guy was always going to beat me in a sprint (World championships point race finalist) so i hoped to be able to drop him before the finish - didn't happen and he beat me in the sprint...

JamieL, is that in Qatar?

Looks more like Oman.

Finished my first ever UCI race this weekend. 4 days of cross-winds, echelons and punctures. Think i spent more time chasing back on than actually riding in the peloton. 17th on GC and should have been higher - away in a group of 6 on the first stage, 1' ahead of the peloton when we got to a roundabout with 3km to go and there were no marshals. Went the wrong way and ended up being given the same time as the main group...
Otherwise had great fun and as a team we picked up an 8th and a 5th.
Absolutely mad racing but i loved it.

Getting away on stage 1. The guy in front is a Pro with a UK continental team, went on to win the overall
Image

Stage 2 had an average speed on 46kph through the hills. Bit faster than anything i've ever done before
Image

This fellow almost took out the peloton when he tried to run out in front of us...

The guy who won is my mate, Roman. He's one hell of a rider!

Yep - He rode away from everyone on the first stage then controlled the Peloton for 400km. I helped him out when i could but he did a great job.
