Wow! Makes Forest Gump's run across the American wasteland look interesting.

How many miles to the next coffee stop?

Is that cycling path exclusively for bicycles? Are any other people/rollerbladers/vehicles/etc. allowed?

Are there many sandstorms? Do you ever get sand blowing in your face? Sand in the drivetrain?

I can't answer your other questions, but for the first, here are a few links for information:

Was actually my very first ride to Al Qudra. This is a cycling path exclusively for bicycles, no other kind of vehicle allowed. There was a runner doing a 50km loop but didnt bother anyone. There was head wind in the first half of the ride limiting avg speed to 30Km/h but no sand blowing around. On the second half, having tail wind, avg speed was easily kept on the high 40s. There is rest area with coffee shop and a Trek store(!!) on the close of the loop. I was told that when gets windy they are having it cleared up all the way!

There is also a very pleasant temp this time of the year, up to 31 Celsius.

Some more photos here:

"Haiyan, the strongest tropical cyclone [typhoon] on record to make landfall" @ 195mph

it made landfall on the central part of the archipelago, the Visayas. Approximately 360 miles from where we live. We just felt the strong winds while the badly hit areas really look bad, as we can only see from out television.

while waiting for the wind...
