Hey all,

Just wanted to introduce myself and here's my 2013 Cervelo S5. Hoping to train hard this year and try out racing. Just enjoy biking and modding my bike. I'll update this as the S5 changes. It's already changed quite a bit in the past 2 months. Complete bike purchased with Ultegra Di2 10 speed/3T cockpit. O


4/2016 Final Update:

As someone mentioned, I really should be on a smaller frame given my 164.5 cm height and 72.5 cm inseam. Pretty much changed out EVERYTHING on the bike except for the frame. Went as weight weenie'ish as I can without any exotic parts. NO carbon aero wheels because I felt I didn't earn/deserve them yet (Not that I deserve this frame/bike build). Personal thing...I just won't buy nice carbon wheels until I am faster.

Original complete Ultegra Di2 Bike was around: 7.89 kg (17.4 lbs)
Final build: 6.84 kg (15.09 lbs)

Judging the amount of seatpost showing, and the angle and push forward on your saddle rails that frame looks too big for you, but nice build otherwise.

Yea the seatpost was raised about 4 cm since that picture. But you are right...it might still be a little too big.

Its a 51cm frame and I am 5'4" with a 29.5" inseam.

The 48cm S5 felt too short in terms of reach. I could have opt'ed for a longer stem to account for this but I still felt more comfortable on the 51cm.

Difficult message top deliver after you have spent so much on the frame, but the shorter frame/longer stem/layback saddle approach would possibly have been better.

The received wisdom is to ride as small a frame as you can get away with and use the cockpit to fine tune the fit. Saves weight, makes the ride more responsive, and of course importantly looks more 'pro'!

Nothing wrong with the build at all. Very nice indeed otherwise.

In the end, what matters is that you ride it lots and that it puts a big smile on your face every time you do. In that respect, it has clearly been a success.

Yea I know what you mean. I kind of had my heart set on the S5 even while I shopped other bikes.

This is a very shallow reason but the 48cm S5 just looked weird aesthetically... Which also contributed to why I got the 51

Nice bike!

You would have lost 25mm of stack if you went with the 48. I don't know how much excess steer tube is on the S5, but you might have had a hard time getting your bars in the same spot.
