I have just received the first part of the puzzle that will form my new race bike; a size 56 Cervélo S5 frame. My previous bike was a R3
, and this will be a different build in several aspects.
I have ridden Campagnolo equipped bikes since 2006, and I will build this with Shimano 6870 Di2 (internal battery). Have not decided whether to go with a full group, or use Rotor cranks and TRP brakes etc. Since 6870 won’t be available in several months I have plenty of time to decide.
The focus of the build will be different since the R3 was a light all-rounder and the S5 will be a lot heavier, but since I ride in flat terrain for 98% of the time it will hopefully be faster. I have been curious of aero-bikes for a long time and I have finally come to the understanding that a 400g-ish weight penalty will (hopefully) not make the bike unridable on hills.
Have yet to decide on wheels, but it will most likely be some sort of 60mm carbon tubs.
Frame Weight (including 5 bottle cage bolts):
Fork (with crown race, 8g)
Headset (nice and flat top cap compared to the volcano one on my last Cervélo):
I´ll keep posting as the parts drop in, and when I need input for decisions
