Exotic carbon do the Cobra which is a full CF post rather than most CF laybacks which use a metal top section (like mine does!)

there post looks awesome, but only 27grams lighter than what i have at the moment, ideally,i would like to half that weight, around 110 - 130grams .

That's the weight penalty of the layback, it inevitably uses more material as it has a higher bending load and a larger head section, do you need the full length or can you cut it down?

I can't see you getting a layback at that weight for the above reasons, the best inline aren't much lighter and the rules of physics play a big part here.

I took a Thomson Masterpiece setback with a carbon cradle, ti bolts, alloy yokes to get a light post (135g-140g for 31.6/300 setback).

I think you will struggle to make a 110-130g setback seatpost since even the companies with the most experience and resources currently struggle too. I too am looking for a light post with around 15mm layback that doesn't cost the earth and have ended up with a tuned Thomson Masterpiece.

Maybe someone can correct me but I can not find a nice light 10-15mm layback seatpost besides a tuned Thomson Masterpiece. The MCFK comes closest but is 20mm offset and 349 Euro...

Maybe someone can help add to the list of light set back posts available? (weight in 31.6x350mm- taken from R2 Bike/ Fairwheel weights)

UPDATED WITH OTHER WEIGHTWEENIES' INPUT

AX Lightness AX2200--- 25mm offset??? --- 114g --- 467 Euro

Cheers Frohrider :D

I have updated the original list with your weights and modified the tuned Thomson price to reflect the cost of the tuning.

I have a tuned Thomson Masterpiece but have found the rear bolt is not long enough to work well with an Alu Yoke (POP) as the nose of the saddle can not be low enough (to have the saddle around level- with the Alu Yokes it is very nose up). The threads in the original Thomson upper clamp sit almost at rail level whereas with the POP yokes the threads are above the level of the saddle rails and the bolt can not reach. Are there other yokes which work better?

To the OP: As before making your own superlight setback post in the weight range you want will be very difficult. I would have thought the easiest approach would be to copy the New Ultimate or Schmolke posts in my list

For the tuned Thomson Masterpiece with POP yokes i use the Easton EC90 Ti bolt kits for the rear yoke (those are 40 or 45mm vs normal 30mm?) and that works well.
The EC90 ti bolts have the same cone shape of the head so they work perfectly.

Where did you source the carbon tube from? Also what diameter is it?

tube is 30.9,made by a friend of a friend,he makes carbon parts for F1 cars and
bikes ,so hopefully it'll be up to the job, took me long enough to get this piece,so dout i'd be able to source from him again as they are snowed under with work.
TOP piece i will fabricate, could be interesting. :D

I'm still determined to get the weight i want, and if i fail, then at least i got my hands in there and tryed.
