fm-102

Here's a FM-102 size 51 (BSA) purchased from Archteks. While advertised at 850g, the actual bare frame weight was 936g. After razoring, filing, and sanding the bare frame weighed 897g. Frame quality is not very good, with an inward bend on the drive-side dropout - fortunately aligning the derailleur hanger compensates for this. Most of the components are carried over from my Pro-Lite Cuneo. Looking for a UD seatpost that I can strip to match.

looks awesome, saddle seems a bit weird to me but I suppose it's whatever you're arse likes
What happened to the prolite?

yes, but how much does it weigh?
Thanks! The Merek saddle works well for me, but it's an odd duck for sure. Total length is 180mm versus 275mm for a SLR. I'd really like to see this shape on a ~230mm saddle. The Pro-Lite Cuneo frame and EDGE fork are stored in the garage - just needed a change of ride.

Thanks! The frame, fork, seat, and seatpost have been treated with 303 Aerospace Protectant.

I like the raw look!
How does it ride?

I've done one short ride so far. Compared to the Cuneo, the ride quality is smoother. I didn't notice any significant flex during climbing and none of the creaks that I'd experienced on the alloy frame. I'll be riding much more in October and will post further impressions soon.
Is it sufficient just to treat the raw frame with 303 Aerospace Protectant??. Have a similar project in mind but was told that the frame needed a clear coat in order to be able to resist weather conditions, but it sounds much easier to spray it with aerospace.
303 is good for UV protection and sunshine is the primary weather condition where I ride
FM-102 = FM-R830 = TP-R803 = Planet X NanoLight (???)
The non-branded frames are advertised in SL and regular versions starting at 820/850g and 920g respectively. Not sure how the versions correlate given the weight difference in my SL frame...

Quite a unique look in raw with that saddle. Why isn't your Smud cage on here? Have you had trouble with your crank/BB "clicking"?
Smart built.Enjoy your ride.

I've moved back to the Pro-lite Cuneo and this frame is now stripped down. The KCNC crankset/BB eventually started creaking when climbing. Looking forward to the SRAM red crankset on the new build.
All said, I enjoyed the FM-102, although aesthetically I never warmed up to the curved top tube. I look forward to comparing the ride on the Cuneo again.
As mentioned in my other build, the Smud ultralight cages did not work for me - too difficult to insert/remove a bottle (TACX provided by Smud).
