Still catching up with photos.

From the Horseshoe Meadows and Whitney Portal ride.

Can't miss the Horseshoe Meadows road!

Whitney Portal

I had heard about the giant pancakes at the Whitney Portal Store and used this as a bribe not to stop. Unfortunately they stop making these at 10:45 am and I came in after that...

Last from Northern California

Onion valley road - suggested in John Summerson's book as possibly the hardest climb in California. Can't validate that, but it was tough! Last 16km of the 21km averages at 8.3%!

Dalai, how many motor vehicles, or indeed humans in any form, did you encounter on the roads depicted on this page of the thread? It looks like glorious isolation (except of course if you ever need help).

Probably on average only half a dozen cars at most for all the rides except Whitney Portal. This was very popular so there was a reasonably steady stream of cars.

But in regards to other vehicles, I have been very surprised how much room I've been given compared to back in Australia. Most cars and trucks have moved right over as they passed!

Very nice Dalai! I really need to get out to Bishop and do a little climbing. Haven't done that yet.

Ritte. Looks like it was a pre-order, one time only thing. Don't see it listed on their store:

Definitely worth the drive!

First ride in CO was over both sides of the Grand Mesa near Grand Junction. Not overly steep, but around 65km climbing for the day!

Well... not exactly "on the road", but I thought I can finally post it here. Bike is my wife's, not mine.
