Nice!! Did you stop in for a Royal Crown cola?

I guess you guys know what stage coaches/stops are (were) if you've seen American Westerns.

Day two San Francisco classics.

Planned to ride Sierra road and Mt Hamilton plus drive to Walnut creek and also ride Mt Diablo. Unfortunately noticed a flat tyre on the rental when I was loading the bike, so after changing tyre for the spare and organising then swapping for a new van it was too late to also ride Mt Diablo.

Sierra road is a nice steep but fortunately short climb. After the above, by the time I started riding it was warm in the sun!

Then Mt Hamilton

Observatory in the distance, still a long way to go!

It was on the first of two short descents where I really messed up. Too hot into a tight blind right-hander with gravel on the apex. Wasn't going to make it so had to abort; straightened up and braked hard. Luckily in CA not everyone drive big cars - missed the oncoming Honda Jazz rear quarter panel by inches and barely stopped on the other side in the gravel where it dropped off! Took the rest of the descents much slower as there was gravel on many of the corners...

That last photo the money shot.

Stupid hot here in the Bay Area this weekend. It's normally much cooler.

Yeah. Rarely any real mud here during the CX season.

And BTW: I can confirm that you're doing your tour of the the Bay Area correctly.
