From what i have read on the world wide web, some people have succesfully run XX1 with standard "teethed" chainrings. With a clutched RD of course. But you might want to add some sort of chainkeeper.
I have also gotten confirmation from a Sram Rep. that the XX1 and normal 10 speed chains have the same internal measurements. So that shouldn't be a problem.

I would be interested in getting a XX1 chainring from them as well but I don't think Fibrelyte make any XX1 chainrings because of the threaded inserts. I asked them last year or so if they could make XX chainrings but they said no due to the problem caused by the inserts.

I have contacted them about non-XX1 chainrings.
It is no problem to manufacture one, but the durability will suffer in MTB conditions ie. mud/sand.
I am tempted anyway, we'll see.

True it will wear a lot faster in mud/sand conditions. However, if you keep it clean it will last a while. I've been using them on my MTB for a few years now and i replace them after 2-3 seasons. I always keep them clean (quick rinse after a ride). Their pulleys seem to last a lot longer and i only clean them once or twice during the season. Had to replace them only once.

2-3 seasons is not bad at all - I might give them a try then.
How is the shifting? Have you ever chipped/broken a tooth in these chainrings?

The shifting is excellent! I never had any issue with them. I have slightly chipped a tooth a while ago but it didn't affect the shifting performance at all.
When i replaced my chainrings at the beginning of the season i noticed that my old chainrings had two missing pins on the back (they are glued to the chainring). Probably just normal wear

The rings itself will hold up fine, the only question is the durability of splines, they have to bear with a lot more force and the carbon fiber is not good under compression between layers.
