@davec. One susceptible areas of the bike are protected by the 3M clear bra film. Underside of the downtube and the chainstays.

thp - apologies for any offence caused, and that's a lovely C59, but can I offer some suggestions?
I'm assuming you're male here (and perhaps that's wrong) but the frame looks a little too big for you. Is it a 48S? Your bar and stem are what you've felt comfortable with in the past as they were on your Scott, but you may find that a slightly different, more stretched out position will work better on a Colnago. So experimenting with different bars (eg traditional 'strada' shape ones) and stems (longer ones - try at least a 110mm), if you can, might be worthwhile.
I'm not sure that bar tape works, but that's just personal aesthetics...
