I only hiked up there at 2456m, but thought it was nice to share

Nice! I'm going to be in Solvang on Monday, Santa Barbara on Tuesday and Wednesday. Will be doing the Gibralter -> Painted Cave loop Tuesday morning. Done it a number of times before. For sure a favorite.

I preferred doing OSM->Painted Cave and then down Gibralter, not sure why really. Both are awesome rides. Have you done Refugio? If not- give that bastard a whirl it is some tough, tough stuff. Will be out there for a week again in September and possibly for good in late fall.

Have heard about Refugio but haven't done it yet. Will do it Monday morning, before cruising north of Solvang, around the vineyards.

I go down to that area two or three times a year, at the least. The riding is similar to the bay area, but the scenery is different. Will no doubt be back down for a long weekend this winter.

Some great group rides out of SB too.

It was really f*in gnarly. Did it with a 39x25 this morning. Not ideal!!!
