Oh, great looking De Rosa. How does it ride?

It rides well. Though - and that might be the biggest mistake my team made this year - it isn't a proper racing bike.

I read somewhere that De Rosa made it specially for the japenese market, and therefore the 888-name (888 is some sort of lucky number in Japan).

In my opinion it is a frame made for longer rides, and not for tough racing. Im though very satisfied with the Sram Red shifting and not to mention, the Vision wheels!

That's a beautiful bike. A few people around here have them - why do you say it isn't a racing bike?

I was looking at the E (electronic) version of this frameset to replace my broken Merek. The bikeshop said it was Campagnolo EPS only and my Di2 groupset wouldn't fit the internal storage for the battery. Does that sound right?

Given I saw the winner of the 2012 Tour of the Philippines ride this, and give the De Rosa's geo, I'd say you'll be fine.

Well, i'd say it isn't a thoroughbred racing bike because of the thin seatstays. When accelerating out of the saddle you feel too much flex in the seatstays and hammering down mountains with 70 k/ph. it feels a bit unstable. I'm very happy with the bike - don't get me wrong, and it's very comfortable. But if i had to choose a bike myself, i'd rather go with the Merak.

And about the Di2 installation. It sounds about right. De Rosa actually made this frame only for Campa with the "Superking 888 E" being for electronic Campa and the "Superking 888 SR" and "Superking 888 R" for mechanical groupsets - namely the SR-model for Super Record and the R-model for Record.

When sprinting the chainstays should be supporting the bulk of the power you are putting down. Thin seatstays are featured on the Cervelo R3 and R5, which are pecfectly capable race bikes. Don't over think things, just enjoy that awesome bike.

Well, my point is, as De Rosa states, it truly is a frame made for longer sportive rides, rather than a thoroughbred racing frame.

I'm not complaining. It's definetly one of the best bikes i've EVER ridden. And i would recommend it to anyone (Because our sponsor tells us to ;-) )

The wheels are actually my own.

If the bike is stolen or crashed, i'll get a new one through my team/my own insurance with help from our sponsor. So no problemo.

I rode the monster to a 6th. place today, in a Danish juniorrace. A bit disappointing, but my legs just weren't any better today. Maybe i'll find a picture of it in action :-)
