Hi guys.

I'm sorry if this is over debated here but I just wanted to make sure I don't make any mistakes with my wheel.

I'm planing on building a wheel with PlanetX 50mm carbon rims (16h front, 24h rear; I'm pretty light so I hope 16h front will be enough):
http://www.planet-x-bikes.co.uk/i/q/RIPX50C/planet_x_50mm_carbon_rim
I've searched around the forum and found the ERD to be of 563mm (but not sure if it is different for internal or external nipples)

I would like external nipples, so need to make sure the ERD is still 563mm.

with these hubs from bikehubstore:
FrontHub: SLF71W - 16holes
http://www.bikehubstore.com/SL71W-p/slf71w.htm
Width: 100mm
PCD: 31mm
Center-to-Flange: 40mm (80mm flange-to-flange, 83mm counting the width of flanges)
Hole Diameter: 2.6mm round

RearHub: SL218 Rear Hub - 24holes
http://www.bikehubstore.com/SL218-p/sl218.htm
Lenth: 130mm
Driveside PCD: 49.6mm
Non-Driveside PCD: 38mm
Hole Diamter: 2.6mm
Left (NDS) Flange-to-Center: 37.3mm
Right (DS) Flange-to-Center: 17.1mm

Could you be so kind to tell me if my spoke length calculations are correct?
I used this calculator: http://www.wheelpro.co.uk/spokecalc/

I got these lengths:
Front:
Radial - 267.3mm ->267 or 268mm

Rear:
DS: 2x - 267.3mm -> 267 or 268mm
NDS: 2x - 273.4mm -> 273 or 274mm

I'm planning on using DT Swiss Revolution Spokes which comes with ALU nipples.

Are my calculations correct? I really need to make sure.

Thank you very much!

I would take another look at the DS length.

I get 269.3 for 2x DS

You are right. I messed up somewhere.
Thank you very much.

I think I'll order it then.

If anybody wants to chime in that has had any experience with these hubs, please do.

Hi there,

Sorry to dredge up a relatively old thread, but the info in here is useful...

Questions;

@tranquilo; did you order the spokes based on the lengths you got from WheelProUK in the end, and did they work out OK?

I am about to order some spokes based on the calculations from that site and wanted to know if the calculations it gave you were good and accurate...

Thanks a lot!

Owen, after I factored all the costs I decided to buy a complete wheel instead of building one myself so I can't help you with that.
Anyway, based on the amount of sites that recommend the use of WheelProUK I, personally, would not have any problems in ordering the spoke lengths that it would recommend me as it gave me the same lengths as other calculators but it's more easy to use.

Bye

Thanks for the response.

Yeah, I have gone with the figures from WheelProUK, which as you rightly point out match that of a few of the other main spoke calculating places.

Cheers.
