Your favourite toe-cover / toe-cap or overshoe?

Just wondering:
What is the WW favourite toe-warmer/toe-cap/overshoe?

On medium-cold days (which, I know, is different for someone in Arizona compared to Norway), do you prefer a toe-warmer/toe-cap or a full on overshoe to keep the warmth in?

Is water-resistance a huge selling point for you, or do you generally avoid riding in the rain if you can help it... ?

This is the one I wear the most, but of course not for the coldest day and as climate is rather acceptable, I can skip the raining days.

I love the castelli nanoflex overshoe for the days that either aint to wet or aint to cold. The days it's biblical rain or cold? Endura Equipe overshoes. best things ever just a tad hot over 15 degrees.

Love the Castelli Pioggia 3 for its feel and style, unfortunately they are not very durable. Neoprene ones for seriously bad weather. Gore (the bike brand, not fabric) ones are on top of the "to try" list, they have strongly reinforced soles.

I really like the Performance toe cover because it rises up and covers the whole front of the shoe. It is very thin neoprene, so it really cuts the wind and is warm, yet there is a lot of random ventilation because it is just a toe cover.

For full shoe covers (not insulated), I use the Addidas (can't remember the model)
and for neoprene booties I like the Vaude with the full length velcro at the back.

I rate the plastic bag method when it's a bit chilli but dry, aka ghetto covers, wear em
In the shoe over your socks.. Works a treat

A pair of mid calf black socks from Target/Big W/Your local equivalent.

Way cheaper then the Defeet/Assos/'Name your cycling brand here' equivalent and does the job just as well. They usually last me a couple of weeks per pair, then I've got my self some rags to use around the house.

I still ride in the rain, my feet just get a bit wet and the socks keep my shoes clean.

Any toe covers like this are good if you live where winters aren't too severe. The cheaper the better cause they all pretty much do the same thing and have holes at the tip by the end of the season.

I tried full boot covers one year but you have to almost take them off to get to the buckle. These do 95% of the job and give complete access even while on the bike.

Thank you for the replies so far, they've been helpful. It's interesting to note some preferences for a full bootie and others for just the toe-caps. Most manufacturers only offer the full bootie and toe-caps are harder to come by in comparison.

Could you provide a weight for your pair?
How long do they last? (one 'cold' season? longer? how often are they worn?)
Do you take them off mid-ride, ever, and if so are they easy to slip back on, do they take up room in your pockets, etc:?

I will weigh them tonight, but they're very light.
I tend to keep them on for the whole winter period, easy enough to remove tho, they slip over the toe and sit behind the rear of the cleat.
They take literally 30 seconds to slip back on and they take up barely any room at all.
