Project is a bit slow going but I am maybe a week away from being ready to head to the mechanic. The photo below shows the bike in its current state with aerobars but I am converting to drops. The spec below sets out everything I already have in my possession.
Spec:
Frame/Fork/Brakes - Trek Speed Concept 9 Size M
Brakepads - Swissstop Black Prince
Seatpost - Speed Concept UCI 23mm offset (not shown, the one in the picture is non-UCI with 35mm offset head - and a crack where I over-torqued it)
Saddle - SLR Kit Carbonio Flow
Bar - Bontrager Aero XXX carbon drops
Stem - 3T ARX Pro
Shifters/Cranks - SRAM Red
Mechs - SRAM Force
Chain catcher - K-Edge
Cassette - SRAM 1070 11-28
Chain - Ultegra
Pedals - Speedplay
Bottle cage - Zipp
Computer mount - Raceware
Front wheel - Planet X 20mm rim, Token hub, DT Rev spokes, Vittoria Corsa CX tub, PX skewer
Rear wheel - Planet X 50mm rim, Token hub, DT Comp spokes, Vittoria Corsa CX tub, PX skewer
Am hoping this lands pretty much on 7kgs when done
In terms of next steps, I am not that delighted with how the front wheel looks so am thinking that a PX 50mm rim (matching the rear) with a Chris King hub as a second front wheel might be the first thing to do.
Other weak points I see in the spec are:
- Stem (probably won't go too weight weenie here, but an Enve, Zipp or Bontrager carbon seems a bit more in keeping than a low end 3T)
- Cassette (really needs a Red XG1090 when I have the £££'s)
- Rear mech - Change to Red
- Maybe chainrings
Your thoughts?

Pics of conversion shortly but am very happy, and it came out at 6995g without bottle cage
Whats the point of this then? don't really get the whole idea.
What kind of saddle to bar drop are you running? Hard to tell in that pic.
What the hell is going on here? road wheels (un-aero) and more crazy drop bars? just buy a freaking road bike lol! you are going to get some stick on the roads
just buy the new 2014 madone that has the KVF aero frameset.

Yeah front wheel was an error. Will be getting 50mm carbon tubs front and rear.
Would love to have the money for a Madone, but I don't - have had the SC for a while but have some physical issues that mean I cant ride on aero bars for long, which I why I converted it to drop bars (not sure what exactly is "crazy" about them, those are the Bontrager carbon aeros with the KVF flats)
Since the way I have the SC set up pretty much exactly mirrors bar stack, bar reach and seat angle of a Madone 54 H1, also cant really see why I would bother.

Also the bike shop has wrapped the flats when they are not intended to be, will remedy that shortly.

Interesting bottle cage placement/orientation. Was that purposeful?

Ah, yes, "helpful" son there and didn't have the heart to redo it while he was around. Will be sorting that after he is in bed. Kind of hoped no-one would notice/comment....

Well you posted on the wrong forum then!! Not much we don't notice or comment on.....this certainly brings new meaning to the term aero road bike. You sure you couldn't find a gullible triathlete around that would overpay you for the SC, thus allowing you to purchase a proper road frame? I think in the long run, even with similar saddle/contact point setup you'd be much happier with a true road frame. I can't imagine that it handles very well.

A few people have said that (about handling) and not sure why people are making that assumption?
