Looks like van Garderen got in just before the rain and finished on a TM01 after starting on his SLR01. Looks like BMC might have finally saved their 2013 Tour from being a complete failure.

Surprised Porte didn't start with any form of TT helmet on.

Porte tweeted that he was in for a tourist ride.

do TT bars need to be sold to public to meet a UCI requirement for use?

All the components of the bicycle must be available commercially (i.e. available on the market or sold directly by the manufacturer) at the latest nine months after their first use in competition. To implement this nine-month period, the manufacturer must publicly announce that the product in question is being used in competition and when it will be available for sale. In all cases the product must be a finished product in the condition that it will be marketed. The testing of a prototype in competition is prohibited.
Thus, it is not allowed to use equipment in competition that is not either available on the market or previously communicated by the manufacturer (with a nine months period for the marketing).
Prototypes and the use of equipment specially designed for a particular athlete, event or performance are prohibited. "Specially designed" means a bicycle with a technical added value when compared with other equipment.

Helmets *and clothes* have a greater affect on aero than wheels do.
Wheels are pretty far down the list.
Frames even further.

However, in a climbing TT, wheels matter.

Also: A true chapeau to Peraud. That was painful to watch from start until tragic end.

Froome wins, but only 30s separates the top 5. To me that would suggest he's fatiguing a bit. Watching the TT he did not look like he took it easy at all.

Good showing from Contador.
Don't take me too seriously. The only person that doesn't hate Froome.

Contador was down 2+ minutes to Froome in the first TT. Post rest day, he's down only 9 seconds to Froome in the second TT. I'm not bashing Contador, I respect the way that he really races (down hills included) - he throws everything in his arsenal at his foes.

Still wondering...
