Anyone familiar with the Recovery Pump?

I started a thread a few years ago about a contraption similar (or maybe even the same) as this.

It was used by Allen Lim and the Garmin riders, and along with the ice vest was supposed to be the reason why they did so well at the Tour in 2008 or 2009, I forgot which year.

Well, back then I had called the company who made the untis and was astounded at the price-$6,000 US. He said that was a discount in comparison to what they sold them to pro teams at $9,000 per unit. It hurt even hanging up the phone after that conversation.

I have no idea what happened to the company, as I never see them advertise anywhere. But here is a new company offering the same type of recovery system at a much more reasonable price. So reasonable that I must question what the difference between the machines are, seeing as the price differential is pretty drastic.

But that's besides the point. Here it is. If anyone is familiar with this and how it works, feel free to chime in.

I know a number of the people who have/use them... if I can get ahold of them I'll ask them about them.
