I like cytomax (ok, I've been sponsored by them for a few years now), but I was ok with all sorts of stuff before. Can't drink some of the stuff with "stimulants" because I have reactions to it and get really anxious.

Bear in mind, when you're ona long ride you don't have much of a choice unless you bring powder with you, etc. I'll drink darn near anything I can get at a gas station.

I've been using 50% water and 50% supermarket own brand energy drink.

Cost is the main driver here. To buy 100% energy drink, when riding 3-5 times a week is costly. Would rather spend the $$$ on bike bits.

The supermarket own brand drink had very very similar ingredients and mineral content to those drinks 3-4 times the price.

Supermarket was Tesco's.

Think about the lightest part on your bike? Your brain! -Use it and do not buy any component, but the one which suits your riding style...

I find it helpful to pop several ice cubes in with your energy drink, if using a camelbac. The sack insulates the drink and the ice keeps it nice and cool.

On training rides, I only drink water. On xc races I drink a mix of energy drink (whatever brand) mixed with red bull. On marathons I take a bottle of the same mix with a 1.5l camelback filled with water...

I work in a bikestore and can get my hands on different brands. I try different things and like most of them. But when it comes to energy gels, there is only one that I really like, which is W cup.
