If you're like me, the most exciting thing to come out of Interbike 2010 was the announcement of the Honey Stinger waffles. I was so excited to give these a try as they looked like the perfect food while on the bike. But at $1.40 a pop, the price is a little hard to swallow (pun intended). If you're looking for a more economical alternative, I found some Daelmans Stroopwafels at Costco which cost about $9 for a box of 48. That's pennies a piece! They're filled with caramel instead of honey and don't have as many calories (120 versus 160), but for the price you won't hear me complaining. I'm not sure if its a seasonal item at Costco, but it might be worth checking out.

Someone brought some of those Costco waffles to work the other day. Sadly, I did not get a chance to try one before they were all gone. Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to try those.

I have found many alternatives to the Honey Stinger waffles once i started to look for them. Search for stroopwafels and see what you get. Even the fancy organic ones are a lot cheaper than the Honey Stingers.

Yeah, apparently lance loves stroopwafels. It's a dutch treat

If you get some organic ones they'll be made with a complex carbs sweetener.

I like to bring a large roast beef and cheese on my rides.

ever try ebay, I got a 16 pack for around 1.10 each

if you have a Kroger in your area they sell small packs of stroopwafels 10 for $10....great treat whether on the bike or not!

You can get a bag of smaller stroppewaffles from Trader Joes as well, very tasty treats....
