I've been off the bike for around 3 weeks.

Did a 34 miles ride in Zone 4. Had a blister on my right heel, which made be pedal ackwardly. As a result both my knee and calf muscles felt awful afterwards.

Got my girlfriend to give me a long leg massage. Worked wonders for recovery rate.

Yep, I been going to a sports massage therapist for the last few months, and my results in my races have been amazing. I've been racing for over 10 years and I'm getting the best results of my life now. I had an injury near the beginning of March which put me off the bike for 7 weeks (Carpal Tunnel syndrome - painful!), basically setting my fitness back to nothing. I started training again afterwards, and went to the therapist (first time in my life), and my fitness has come back two fold. I had knots in my legs like you can't imagine which she is working out at every session. It hurts, but that's when you know a good job is being done.

I can recommend going for a proper massage to ALL riders, it would benefit your riding/racing much more than getting that extra supplement or losing 50g on your bike.

I had one post SITS. Very good, helped my legs a lot.

Also, the girl was very fit. This helped.

it works, and it works well! after all, look at how much emphasis the pros place on it....

If your in a team doing SITS, why not a massage during? Or did you compete solo?

Yeah, I go once a week. I run an awful lot as well as cycle, so my legs take a real battering. The massage itself is fairly painful, but the results are great and it keeps me going for another week. Trick is to do it regulary or there is no point.

I rode in a team. Didn't have a massage during because it was the first time I had access to it. You don't try out new things in competition. At the end was fine though.

That isn't what I said though! I said "at the end was fine" meaning that trying something new at the end of competition was fine.
