I was just wondering what supplements everyone uses, and what effect they have?

Currently I only take L-Carnitine, I started taking it as I had a problem loosing weight. After taking this 1 a day I went from 63kg to 60kg in just a few weeks.
The protien drink I use has L-Glutamine in, I'm not sure if it has a great effect, but I take it for the protien.

most books recommend getting your nutrients from food rather than suppliments...

At 63 kg i wouldn't really be thinking about losing weight. I weigh 63kg and I am trying to put on weight at the moment cos if i lose any more weight it will be unhealthy.

p.s. how tall are you?

I am 5'7" (169cm I think)
I think my body fat percentage is about 8-9% so I am trying to reduce this to about 6%.

I currently weight 59kg, i took a long time to loose the extra kilo, but I plan on staying at this weight now for the racing season.

his name might start with P but he's no Nut

have to agree with him - 8% is low, the key will be in maintaining that figure and staying healthy rather than getting it lower...

Man, I wish I was 8%. You should feel lucky. Thats my goal is to get to 8-10%. I think I'm sitting around 13% right now.

Maybe I am not committed enough, but in the winter I go to the gym, and try to build upper body strength for reasons of vanity. My weight will increase, but at least I wont see a skeletal figure in the mirror when I undress. About this time of year, I look too skinny, with large thighs.... ugly, IMO! I will get my six pack showing and some pecks in the winter..... I know, more weight to schlepp around, but for MTBing the demands on your upper body are greater than road riding, so isn't this important too?

As long as your upper body can cope with the streeses I dont see any need for large muscles in the upper body.

Most high level Mountain bikers have a very thin stature. I think its more important to build lean muscle that muscle bulk.
I've lost quite a bit of muscle bulk in the last year, mainly off my legs and chest area. I'm quite pleased as I feel I'm just as strong.

I'll be doing some Singlespeeding over winter, so I hope I dont put too much bulk can on! :)

very thin stature is the understatement of the world when it comes to former mtn bike world champ Rasmussen! Somebody give this guy a hamburger... with extra cheese.
