I'll be 26 in September
5'11" and 156-159lbs depending on the time of day
Race weight would likely be around 140-150 though...probably close to 150 since there's not much climbing around here
I haven't gotten a chance to take road racing seriously yet but when I was running in my first year in college I weighed 145-150.

140 is race weight, in the winter I gain more because I nordic ski and develop upper body muscles. I usually notice that I can do 5-10 pull-ups depending on the day in the winter, But I can barely manage 2 or 3 during the summer when I am at race weight. I generally blame it on my legs being strong and heavy.
I'm the same way...I tried swimming this winter to build a base without being stuck on the trainer/treadmill and I was stronger than I've ever been in my life after a month of 45 min/session and 5 days a week. I quit swimming 2 months ago and I definitely can't do 5 pullups now but before I could do 10 before I started to struggle.
I'd recommend it as it helps cardio fitness tremendously...but the biggest downside is that your girlfriend/wife/etc will probably start complaining when your upper body shrinks back down afterwards.
