Hello all.

just wondering if there are any experts out there in the WW forum who can tell me why im suddenly having problems with my left knee. Ive done 90 miles today and 300 last week. ive been going out once a week through winter and ive suddenly started to increase the amount of riding im doing.

after todays ride my left knee is really sore. can this be just over training when im not used to it or is this down to cleat position and not set up quite right.

your help is appreciated.

thanks
christian

sounds like you have done too much of an increase, reduce your riding and gradually build up.

Bingo on that assessment. If your winter was long and you are just getting outside in the last few weeks, take the mileage slower.

About cleat position : it is of course a possibility. From the experts on Cyclingnews, I've learned to push the cleats as far back as possible.

More generally, and even though cycling was born in Europe, it is usually very instructive to read what our Australian friends have to say about positioning, racing, etc.

HELLO

How about telling us exactly what the knee pain is like - which part of the knee, intensity of pain, does it hurt more with certain activities, etc.

Hi crispyapplepie

it can be many things that have caused the pain in the knee.

some questions:
1. where is the pain in the knee?
2. when does it hurt?
3. does it hurt when you not are riding?
4. have you changed something on your bike?
5. changed position/ new cleats?
6. what is our cadance when riding?

it is a bit easyer to say what it can be when we know some of this

Sounds like too much training.

You find nice remedies in Andy Pruitt`s book "Medical Guide for Cyclists"
