How do you measure protein as calories?

I watch my protein and fat gram intake, but have no idea about my carb gram intake, although I do monitor and time my carb GI.

Cheers

Brian

One gram of Protein has approximately 4 kcals of energy.

That's a hell of a lot of protein for an apitite like mine.

I'd also heard 1.5g per kg of body mass.

Yeah it's a bit, but sportsmen need more protein for growth and repair after training than the average person.

The FDA and other orgainisations give advice for the mass population, a cyclist who trains everyday for hours isn't really the average person! In terms of protein per bodyweight, I think 1 gram of protein per lb of body weight is about right for atheletes.

I'm eating a lot of tinned fish with my pasta now.

I read on a bottle of charcol pills that charcol supplements easy flatulence. They also inhibit your ability to absorb vitamins and minerals so I'm giving them a miss.

Regards

Brian
