So I've sort of got the basics down and have access to lots of great training tools. I know how to do FTP, VO2 work etc.
I was wondering if there was a way to virtually do a hill climb segment indoors, so I could practise pacing it. Like import the segment of it from Strava and the trainer would simulate the resistance.
Is there anything like that around? I have a smart trainer and use Zwift, but quite new to indoor training, maybe just 2/3 months at this point.
How do you train for something specific like a hill climb segment?

Can you either control the turbo using your garmin file of the segment you want to do, or import the file as an erg type file into the app?
IDK as my trainer is nowhere near as smart as me
but there's a lot of people that seem to do that sort of thing somehow.
Main question is why? if you want to get faster up a particular climb, up your power / lower your weight (or both), or practice climbing the real thing with different pacing strategies, and see whats fastest.

There's a few climbs on my list, but two of them are way too far away with nothing similar nearby. Going to have a look through the Garmin manual online, see if that's workable. Would be pretty boring doing it without visuals, but well.. better than nothing.
Someone should make a program of this sort of thing.. maybe there is. Still hoping.

dc rainmaker did a bit on it a while ago. google for garmin files and smart trainers.
As i read it, if your garmin broadcasts Fe-C then you should be able to use it to control your Neo.
So either find the tcx file or whatever of where you want to ride and import it on to your garmin, or use connect to create it.
Should be more ways to do it than that.

Dont know how to help with visuals though. Im happy looking at the back of the garage door! :0)

@mattr true that
@jekyll nice, that DC link is class - also found this in the interim:
https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp ... 534CF.html
and
a subscription type program called BKOOL
http://www.bkool.com/en-GB/cycling-simulator
£8 a month, think I'll pass and go with the garmin, seems easy to do actually. I can fire up Zwift and have that on for visuals.
Thought this was going to be a PITA, actually quite happy now. Cheers, will try tonight
EDIT: balls. can't get the GPX file for the biggest climb. Other two I can go do myself at the weekend. Need this one though:

EDIT 2: drama over, made the GPX file for it on RideWithGPS
