Night training and being seen

If you don't see my Bontrager Flare on the rear then there's something not right in your brain. My concern here is more an additional or secondary measure as an addition to lights. You can have all the lights you want, but if you're a black mass surrounded by blinking spots, it's very hard for drivers to judge size, road position and speed. I see it all the time while driving. I know there's a bike coming from a mile away, but when they're close it becomes more difficult to judge distances, especially as most riders dip said bright lights when a driver approaches.
