what does this version do for peoples installs that they have already set up to sync like this?

hopefully all the preferences synch as well now ....

Good question. I've been storing my GC files and folders on Dropbox for a long time now, so I guess this is redundant. I do notice the json files are now in zip format, so perhaps I'll create another backup using this method.

If you are using dropbox syncing for your athlete folder you will probably be syncing large amounts of data.
Using the native sync you use a lot less space.

But apart from that there isn't much else in it .. from v3.2 the metric refresh uses a CRC so timestamps aren't the issue they once were.

We only sync the ride files, so its not syncing config and preferences, which may or may not be a win, depending upon what you are looking to do.

Thanks Mark! It's incredible just how far GC has advanced in the few years since I started using it. It is frankly superb right now, and what you are proposing for v4 will be jaw-droppingly awesome.

So, back to the question at hand, I guess it is better the way I was doing it because my config and preferences are all stored there, as well. I have never tried, because I only use one computer, but I should think if I simply installed the app on another interface, pointed it to my dropbox folder, I should see everything in exactly the same fashion once it is opened.

Try:
Tools -> Options -> Athlete -> About
Units:

PS: there's a mailing list for GC.

Im very disappointed that they have yet to update or fix the Linux version of GC. The latest Linux version (2.1) is extremely buggy and problematic. Ive tried several distros and versions and none of them are even remotely stable....

Did you report the crashes/problems on the GC mailing list?

couple of things

in:

Trends ->Tracker "Athlete Weight" is displayed as (kg) even when inout in preferences is Imperial and weight is entered in lbs.
I assume that this is just a display error as other metrics seem to be correct (sadly would have love my power/weight to halve)

and another point is that weight is not dynamic, i just discovered this when i went to Pref-> Athlete -> Measures and entered a new weight.

kind of expected a "from date" like power zones.

fluctuating weight by using "from date" would be useful as you would then be able to graph power/weight over time

Love the software, thank!

Have heard that *some* app / trainers essentially tunnel the Ant+ FE-C through their Bluetooth Smart connection ..

Golden Cheetah is incredible (thanks very much all involved) but it can be a bit hard sifting through / finding documentation.

I am 99% sure that GC's "train page" can control (ergo mode) trainers (Tacx Neo) using FE-C with an Ant USB stick .... but does GC support doing this via Bluetooth smart ....

I don't want to end up forking out for two dongles, and (for some reason) favour BTLE - correct me if i am wrong ....

Using GC from the Ubuntu repos has been very stable. I have it on a VM as well as my laptop and haven't had a single crash.
