Can anyone shed some light on the relevance of V02 Max to cycling performance?
Following a few tests (same tester, same protocol) happily enough mine's increasing but unlike FTP I'm unsure of what relevance that has to performance. I've a feeling that a high V02 max is just that and nothing more.

Your power at threshold as a percentage of VO2max is more telling.
A good VO2max is often a good indicator of potential performance but there are plenty of cyclists who's VO2max is not that high but sustained power is awesome. Conversely there are some who have VO2max through the roof but don't translate well to endurance cycling.

Don't have any definitive numbers but ballpark would be about 95%. That is highly variable given the nature of how VO2max is calculated (see above link). But working off memory here and happy to be clarified on that one.
