Injecting particles of lipid fats that contain oxygen gas into the blood.

How long until this gets used in the cycling world?

It looks like its effect is only short term - which would mean mid-stage administration.

Assuming it requires a needle that is.

Otherwise...

Limitation is dissociation of CO2 - not uptake of O2. :)

I would also say that markers for this would be dead easy to find at this stage. I could also see application for this in recovery rather than direct performance.

PFC does the job better, and is all but untraceable.

Musk3t - ummm... how do you know about these? Medical background? Biology background? Not just a snippet of knowledge the average joe has in his back pocket. Just interested.

A friend and I spent a great deal of time researching these/speculating about their use by certain professional who happened to come down with cancer about 12 years ago.

Cheers,
I

Illuminate, how did you theorise it's use for cyclists?

I remember the mrs talking about this at a conference about neo-natal re-sus but never occurred to me applications for cycling. Of course "The Abyss" was my first thought when I heard about it!

It's been used a lot in Italy. Most of the time it's only proven by finding actual samples, evidence of administration. I believe Petacchi was implicated with its use a wee while back.

My knowledge comes from a few varied backgrounds within pro sport, the law and generally keeping an ear open.
