Your own link tells you the importance of this hormone.
So what?

and being a better bike rider ?
The wikipedia page is full of studies and is clear: No clinical trials yet.
Looking for an edge you can buy at the pharmacist? My wild guess is you have a lot more to gain with proper training and weight loss. Your wallet will like that too.
Last thing I heard administring hormones is doping. Play it fair or cheat, the choice is yours. Play it fair and you will be able to look up to yourself. Cheat and you'll look down on yourself as just another idiot who tried to artificially enhance self esteem.

EPO's already been proven effective, so you may as well just stick to that

I'd rather have some myostatin inhibitor.

Papers clearly state;- increase blood glucose absorption into skeletal muscle, AND inhibit liver production of glucose.
So if you get the dosage wrong, (which would be very easy to do) you are going to have loads more muscular glucose for a short time till its all gone, then hypoglycaemia. Bonk, Splat, possibly die (your brain can only use glucose).
Not really a great idea. Studies show decreases in obese individuals due probably as a factor of the pancreatic damage and glucose insensitivity. v.v. small doses might help these individuals but no real evidence at the moment.
And yes it would be doping!
