I'm probably starting way too many threads and I'm sorry for the clutter, I just want to keep these topics separate.
I was reading about cadence last night, and the article made that claim that fairly new riders tend to ride lower cadence when they want to push higher power. I'm slightly guilty of this (and I'm only about 8 months into cycling too), by pushing in the 70s when I'm over 300w. I was trying to figure out why though... My thought was that we have not built a well circulated cardiovascular system in our legs (capillary network), and by decreasing our cadence we are therefore able to rely more on neuromuscular rather than cardiovascular. In turn, this causes more strain on our legs than needed.
Low cadence?
