Unusual one perhaps but mine is in Taiwan, Asia
From Puli to Mt Hehuan, 500m to 3275m in 50km. The first 10k are flattish. It's a tough climb because the grade is VERY variable, anywhere from 5 to 20%, tough to find a rhythm and it gets to you. Sweet though standing on the top after

Not really hot yet, especially in the mountains. Best cycling time there is spring and autumn (october). Summer is suffering. I was there with my bike in june once and i just had to step outside to break a sweat, let alone on the bike  If you start at 6am and go up, it's still ok though.

No one has ever accused me of going uphill fast, but I rode the Gross Glockner in Austria this past weekend (with a mountain goat member of this forum - he rode a lot faster than I, that is for sure). The climb from Brück to the Fuscher Törl rises from 757 meters to 2,428 meters. That course is 27.7 km long. The average gradient from the toll station (about half way) is 12%. It hurt me...
