Of course "ultralight" is a relative term here when you have a 390 g front generator hub.
Link doesn't work.

I don't want to steal his thunder but AdvanceSpark/Ahmet has been neglecting this thread, and his Bishop rando bike has turned out to be a real stunner!

Sorry for not being able to update the progress and keeping up with the posts. I had my hands full relocating from Turkey to Florida!
I've been painting walls, removing carpets, and laying down flooring for the last few weeks. Really tiring stuff if you've had people do them for you, and find yourself in an environment with expensive labor and no friends to help through the process.
Thanks for the link post. I was actually waiting to learn about the total weight of the bike to do an update. Now that the bike came out to be an amazing piece of work, I actually don't really care. I had very high expectations, and Mr. Bishop managed to deliver a bike that's far, far beyond of my imagination. He's just amazing.
It will be great to have that bike in Orange County, FL. I'm looking forward to see it in person, and take it out for a spin. A long one.
Will post more stuff as soon as I get rid of my BlackBerry, and have decent broadband internet at home
Cheers,
Ahmet

The bike was awarded "the best lugged frame" in NAHBS.

Looks fantastic! I acquired a set of Stans rims too, but I think I will stick to Grand Bois rims for this bike. No need to shave off grams from the rims when you have a 500+g Selle Anatomica. Also GB rims nicely compliment the build too.
I have a historic racer in my mind which only will look historic at a glance but will feature new lightweight components hidden here and there. I had the idea when I saw Ralph Lauren's Alfa Romeo in Paris. That's why I'm keeping the Stans rims for!
Black Pari-Motos, Black rims, black spokes, silver hubs. Already have silver Mig70 and Mag180 for Campy. A polished or black pump cosmetically held in place with black leather straps. Black leather bar tapes and saddle... The paint should be greasy instead of glossy, the paint on the car looks amazing imho. I would happily go with carbon Record levers, derailleurs etc... I can use my Campy barends as DT shifters too. I have Tune Fast Foot compact cranks and seatpost sitting at home in Istanbul, and are polished instead of anodized. Must make a list of parts. Any ideas to add? I'm pretty sure a colorcoded rack and headlight would feel at home but then I don't need another randonneur which would not be nicer than my Bishop. A porteur would work though.
Here's the Alfa Romeo:

The maroonish red one on the left.
Although I photoshopped a randonneur bike, it would be very cool to have a road bike looking this heavy but below 7 kg. Unlikely with the fenders, but painted smooth fenders would make the build complete.

Unfortunately I can't get to the flickr.
What were the rims in the end? Stan's? If so were they rim brake specific, or did you just take a chance on disc ones?
Cheers.

Here's another link for photos:

In the end I decided to go with the heavier Grand Bois rims. Stans ZTR rims had an imperfection at the welding point that had to be machined out, de-anodized, and polished. The short life expectancy and high cost per rim didn't sound good to me. Think about replacing the rim for some reason... I'm waiting for Kirk Pacenti's new 650B rims to be available. The prototype was 387 grams and the polished finish looks very good.
I will buy a pair of Pacenti rims and build another wheelset laced around Tune hubs. Pacenti Pari-Motos for the lighter wheelset, and GB Lierre tires for the current dynamo hub wheelset...

Prolly's photo's look amazing - I've been following your build for a while with interest.
I asked about that link, as I had a feeling you posted details of the wheelbuilld in one of the early flikr pics...
...any how, you've answered my question. The GB's sound like the right move. The Stan's sounded awfully decadent.
Also I've got to say the fork has a beautiful shape.
