Anyone have suggestions for an inexpensive carbon 'cross frame? I want it more for commuting than for racing. But it might see the occasional race over the barriers.

Stevens could be the cheapest one with 1300,- Euro for the frameset.

Greetings

Or the Ridley X-Fire. The Framset is like 1150,- to 1190,- Euros in the shops here.

Email Joe Holmes at Seigler Imports. They are importing a Taiwanese carbon monocoque Cross bike soon if not already.

If you cannot find them, PM me and I'll give you the email address.

I'm interested in carbon for a couple of reasons.

1. I have a steel cross frame and it is HEAVY. I want something lighter.
2. I want the vibration dampening and compliance that an aluminum frame doesn't usually offer.
3. Titanium seems to be more expensive than carbon these days and this is a budget project.
4. As wierd as it sounds, the bike has to be made of something with no magnetic signature or magnetic properties. Specifically, no steel and minimal metal. I work and live (part time) on a minesweeper. If I want to bring a bike with me when I travel it has to meet some spefic requirements. Carbon fits the bill and a 'cross bike tends to be more versatile for the places I visit than my high end road bike.

As for the weight, I don't have a specific weight limit in mind... other than it must be lighter than the steel frameset hanging in my shed right now.

I emailed Joe a few weeks ago and no response. Any word on the cx frame? If not, would you mind inquiring (since you know him)?

Thanks

How much is that frame going to cost? Pedalforce-like cheap?
